Sure-fire way to get your child to eat meatloaf

Wrap it up like a BURRITO!

(And YES that is a sippy cup sitting next to my SEVEN YEAR-OLD son. He is a "drinker" and he likes to have an available cup of milk at any given time, so we put it in a covered cup so we can just keep it in the fridge between drinks and it keeps spills down to a minimum.)

(You know, since 7 year-old boys are so neat and clean.)

The best part of my meatloaf is that it is FULL of vegetables!

I add finely chopped carrots, onions, red, yellow, orange, and green peppers, and tomatoes to my hamburger mixture....and nobody notices!

It makes me feel just a little bit better that I am feeding my family a big hunk of meat for supper.

Do y'all have any hints for "hiding" vegetables in food or any food "tricks" you use to get your family to eat better?

  1. Ham and sweet potato fritters - yum! Other than that, not too much. I am blessed to have a family that will eat pretty much whatever I put in front of them, veggies included. And some times, our dinner is all vegetables. But I must admit, my favorite meal is steak, medium rare! Kathy

  3. I've been lucky so far in that my son likes most veggies without too many complaints, so I haven't had to get too creative in trying to 'hide' them in other foods. I do make lunches kind of fun - no baggies, kind of a 'bento' deal and that has made him even more willing to try new things. If they're served in a fun way, then he doesn't think twice about at least trying new things.

I also wanted to comment that we have the same plates! :) Oh, and we had meatloaf for dinner tonight, too.

  4. Ashamed to admit it, but my kids like way more veggies than my husband or I do, dont know how that happened, but I am happy about it!

  6. I don't hide veggies, but I do allow Abigail to dip her veggies in ketchup. If that's how she gets them down, then that's fine by me. And Abigail still drinks from a sippy cup. She's the spill queen. I even make Shiloh drink out of cups w/ lids (like our to-go cups from restaurants) b/c Abigail is so clumsy that she spills his drinks, too. It actually happened tonight :-).
