I would say about 80% of my Facebook buddies, bloggie buddies, and in real life friends are going to the midnight showing of "New Moon" tonight.
Our local movie theater is showing "New Moon" in EIGHT theaters tonight at Midnight and is ONLY showing "New Moon" and "Precious" for the ENTIRE next week....which I am really ticked about since I won't be able to take my kids to see ANYTHING.
I just don't get it.
"Team Edward" or "Team Jacob"??? I don't have a clue. I mean, isn't Edward the vampire she's in love with?
And isn't a cable channel that is devoting coverage 24 hours a day to the series a little much?
I mean, "Twilight" was a good movie. I didn't see it in the theaters, and only actually saw it on DVD for the first time a couple of months ago. I bought the movie for Chelsea, since so many girls her age seem to be nuts over it. She did like it, but doesn't hold a candle to "General Hospital" or "Wolverine" in her eyes.
I haven't read the books, either. Maybe I should actually read the books, and that may help me develop an obsession for the series that so many of my friends seem to have.
I guess I just can't see being excited to sit in a jam-packed, over-booked movie theater in the middle of the night. I've only been to ONE opening night at the movies in my life, and that was to see "Sex In the City" for my birthday, and it WASN'T my idea.
My agoraphobia was on HIGH ALERT during that movie.....especially since the man that was sitting next to me didn't seem to think that a nice, long shower and deodorant was needed before he came to the movies that night.
Will I be going to see "New Moon" tonight?
NO
Will I be going to see "New Moon" during it's run in the theaters?
Probably Not.
Will I wait and watch it when it comes out on DVD?
Probably.
I have to just try to find out what the hype is all about.

I wont be seeing New Moon either, I didnt like the first one that much. I do want to see 2012, but no one in my family wants to see it. Chris may change his mind though once I tell him that I dont want to see Avatar with him! :P
ReplyDeleteYou won't find me there, either.......
ReplyDeletesuzanne
nope, you're not alone my friend.. i don't get the hype either. now my daughter, that's another story.. yep, she's one of those! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am not going to see it either... But the books were fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI confess....I WILL be there and I AM a Twihard!!! :) I am an avid reader but I had no desire to read the books. Then my girls begged and begged until I gave in. Hopped into bed one night and cracked open the first book at 10 p.m. Forced myself to close the book and turn off the lamp at 2 a.m.! It was THAT good!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think every woman deserves an Edward in her life. ;) He's a real romantic.
You're not the only one! I have never saw the first one, and never cracked open one of the books. I just don't see the appeal to reading or watching vampires.
ReplyDeleteNope, me either. Won't be there.
ReplyDeleteNot me!! Yet, it does seem like so many people that I know will. I dont get it, but oh, well.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely won't be seeing the midnight showing. Too many people! I will go see it sometime this weekend though :) I refused to read the books for a few years, while my sister read them over and over. While hubby was deployed to Iraq last year I read them in the evenings to help pass the time and fell in love :) I have to say, I like the books a lot better than the movies :) Give 'em a try :)
ReplyDeleteI confess, I am going to be there! I bought my tickets 2 1/2 months ago! I even have my TEAM EDWARD sweatshirt. I read the books. In the beginning, I had no clue what the hype was with the book. I don't particularly like vampires or science fiction. But once I started reading, it became like crack to me. LOL! I will be at the theater as soon as I get off of work to wait in line so that I get a good seat!
ReplyDeleteNope, not me either. Haven't read the books, haven't seen the first movie, don't intend to do either. Now, I will be seeing Men Who Stare at Goats. Hey, maybe they need to put George Clooney in the twilight movies.... just sayin'! Kathy
ReplyDeleteI don't find vampires sexy. I won't be there, either. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll wait until it comes out on DVD but I will say...read the books.
ReplyDeleteThe books are always better than the movies. I put off reading the books because I thought they would be juvenile. They weren't. I really liked them.
Of course, I have all the Harry Potter books as well, so maybe that's not saying much.
Hey Girl:
ReplyDeleteI've missed you...
I will be seeing the movie probably Thanksgiving night...the girls and I usually go to a movie while the guys watch football..that is after we put the tree up!
~Hugs
I won't be seeing it this week, but will be next week after the Thanksgiving rush on it. I enjoyed the books, and couldn't put them down once I started. I do think reading the books helps.
ReplyDeleteI originally went to see the first film because my son worked on the editing and I like to see the movies he's been invovled with. I'm a good mom.
I do heart Edward Cullen (not the actor, just the character), but he's no Mr. Darcy. Mr. Darcy is it :)
You'd feel differently if your daughter had gotten into it. My nieces have us all excited to see it with them.

Guilty of going tonight...to a midnight show. Why? Because a group of girls invited me and a GNO sounded like so much fun. Have no clue what I'm getting myself into.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record....TEAM RHETT!
I'd rather stay home and staple my eyelids together than sit through that tripe.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone one wants a real vampire movie - tell 'em to watch Lost Boys !!
I for one will be at the opening of " The Blind Side" with my dad, if he's feeling up to it !!
: )
I'm with you. I read the first 2 books and then couldn't get through the 3rd book. I will watch it when it comes out on video, but not at the theater. I saw the first movie on video. It was ok; not really my type of movie. The girl that had the lead was pretty flat...
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! Don't get it either. But, I don't get football either so what do I know! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one!! Alot of my friends went and loved it, but as for me I LOVE 'BLINDSIDE" it is a GREAT movie. It is based on a true story!!Love, Susan
