A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I had started the kids on a strict allowance program. As long as they did well in school and didn't get into any trouble, they would get an allowance every week. If they got into ANY trouble, such as stickers marked out or letters sent home,
NO ALLOWANCE!
Well, at first Jameson tried really hard....he was able to go a few weeks at a time without getting into any trouble. He actually saved about $9.00. BUT, then the novelty wore off, he became used to not getting any toys, and his behavior started to suffer. It started with a couple of stickers marked out, and then progressed to notes being sent home once or twice a week.
We took away television, playtime with friends, outside playtime, and toys.
NOTHING was working.
THEN WE HAD AN IDEA!!!
What is the ONE THING that Jameson wants more than anything???
We told Jameson that if he was able to behave until school let's out in May...
He could get a PUPPY!
Every morning, before he goes to school, we write the word "Puppy" on his hand. Every time a teacher says his name, he is to look at his hand to remind him of what his good behavior will lead to.
It's been TEN DAYS, and he's had ZERO problems! NOT A ONE!
Now the problem is, if he is able to do this....
We have to get a DOG!
**sigh**
I still like this one so much better!!
(Because she belongs to somebody else!)
Boy, you opened a whole can of worms. He might just do it.
ReplyDeleteOh a little boy needs a puppy!! Scott and sherrie Stephens have a new litter of lab puppies. The mother dog came from us. They are GREAT with kids. Ours love Tucker! The only one I would advise against would be a Jack Russell-they are incredibly hyper. YAY for Jameson, I hope he makes it until May :)
ReplyDeleteHUGS,
Catie
awww I think every little boy needs a puppy! That was a really good idea. :)
ReplyDeleteaww way to go jameson!! i agree.. labs make great companions for little boys [and the whole family!] i am partial to both labs & shih-tzus, as they are very loyal, don't normally chew, and i think i've heard mine bark twice since we adopted him! [our last shih-tzus didn't bark much either] omg.. i can see it now.. this is gonna turn into the same thing that the O'Bamas went through.. everyone suggesting what sort of dog to get..LMAO!!
ReplyDeleteeither way.. i'm rooting for Jameson to get his puppy!! :D
blessings,
Tracie
Well, I think we can knock Labs off the list. We got a Lab when I was pregnant with Jameson. He was a little hyper and Chelsea had REAL issues with it. She still will say "Mama, please don't get a dog that will jump on me." SO, we are looking for something that is either pretty small, or very lazy.....and of course, it has to be an outside dog. No dogs allowed in the new house.
ReplyDeleteso,so funny! and such a great idea...i bet he'll be good from now on......lol...
ReplyDeleteWell, you sure figured out how to motivate J......better get some dog food!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne

ReplyDelete...once he gets his puppy....THEN what will you bribe him with to keep him on his best behavior?? ...another puppy??? LOL! :)
ReplyDelete(picturing Robin with 5 puppies running around)
Is this when you kinda hope he doesn't do it....LOL
ReplyDeleteWay to go J... We can here the barking in the distance....
ReplyDeleteblessings,
kari & kijsa
That is HYS-terical!!! I love it! What a great idea!! To write it on his hand!! haha
ReplyDeleteLeave it to my friend to come up with such a brilliant plan :), Just remember..... PUPPIES grow up to be DOGS. We love our Rottie mix ( we didn't tell him that he had any Rottie in him) so he's very loving, but he's a jumper. Stock up on food look's like the Hill's are getting a dog!!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a basset hound...they seem lazy and probably won't jump too much! lol
ReplyDeletewhat a clever mom you are! I think a dog is a great thing for a family, we have had large dogs in the past, but our Shih tzu poodle mix is the sweetest best dog we have ever had! Good luck! Sue
ReplyDeleteawwww! What a great idea,,,,,, I think. At least I love the idea of writing it on his hand......we may have to use that one day when Grayson gets older.
ReplyDeleteWow! You're a nice mom...way nicer than me! I would love for my kids to have a pet but I couldn't handle it mentally until I'm done with babies! Good for you!
