American Idol

Oh well, here it is again, ANOTHER season of American Idol. I tell myself every year that I'm not going to get hooked, but you know, it's kinda like a car wreck, you can't help but look. Tonight was the last night of the auditions, and for me, the end of the BEST of the season. I just love watching all of those delusional, tone deaf innocent people who, in some point in time, someone told them they could sing. Probably their deaf Mama's, definitely not anyone who can actually HEAR their voices has taste. I also like to pick a couple of singers I think will do well, and see how far they will go in the competition.
I loved Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, David Cook, Taylor Hicks and MOST OF ALL, Chris Daughtry from the very beginning. Some won, some didn't, but they all made it pretty far.
This year, surprisingly, both of my favorites came from the same audition,
Salt Lake City, Utah. More surprisingly, they are both female. Other than the first year, I've always picked male singers.

My first pick is: Megan Corkrey

Megan was the newly-divorced mom of the little boy "Ryder", with an arm sleeve of tattoos. She was very "unique", and Simon actually said "I love you!"

The second, and my favorite performer is: Frankie Jordan

Frankie was the gorgeous lady with the adorable baby girl and cutie-pie husband. Frankie is a sober, sane fresher version of Amy Winehouse.
I just loved her style!

It is going to be interesting to see how far these ladies make it in the competition.

Who are your early picks for Season 8 of American Idol?

  1. My two picks, too!!! I actually am very excited about them both. I know what you mean about the train wreck part...ya' just can't help it. Is it just me, or are we experiencing a kinder, more gentler Simon? LOL Have a great FRIDAYYYY! Barb

  2. You know Barb, I thought the same thing. Simon wasn't nearly as mean as before. Maybe he is trying to look good for the new gal...lol!

  3. well, i have an entirely different view of idol these days. coming from the mother of an amazingly talented daughter.. i am jaded. she has auditioned 3 times, only to be turned away at the open cattle call every time. now i know what you're thinking.. but before you say i'm another proud mom of a tone deaf child.. please go listen, and judge for yourself!! http://www.myspace.com/gretchenelizabethmusic
i have seen first hand, what those auditions are like [a JOKE!] and also believe that a great many of the ones you see in front of the judges.. never even smelled the cattle call auditions. they have agents, etc.. who get them straight to the celeb judges. you guys do know that those thousands of people do not ALL get in front of Simon, Paula, Kara, & Randy.. right? that is like the 4th round of auditions. that explains why some of those poor kids, passed through strictly for those ratings, are so confused when they're finally told.. you suck! some of course know why they're there, and have put themselves in that position, just to get on tv. BUT, the ones that cry and look stunned.. is because they ARE!
it's cruel, to say the least. if you wanna know more, let me know! there is more!

  4. Oh Tracie, I have heard your daughter and she is FANTASTIC....I almost asked "why doesn't she try out"....so I guess I know why! I'm so sorry that she has had that horrible experience....but it will make it that much more sweet when she DOES succeed on HER own talents!
