Kelly's Korner; Show Us Where You Live Fridays!

This is a repost from May 2009.  Not much has changed in my kid's rooms since that time, except for the amount of mess!  Chelsea still loves her room, and the only changes she wants to make is to add Taylor Lautner posters all over the walls!  Jameson, however, is a different story.  I think we will be making some changes in there in the future.

***********************************

For the past several weeks, Kelly Stamps from Kelly's Korner has been hosting Show Us Where You Live Fridays!

This week's theme is CHILDREN'S ROOMS!

Like most things in this house, my kid's rooms are an unfinished wreck, however, they do actually have SOME things on their walls. I am so excited to show y'all some of the things we have done!

First, I will show you Chelsea's room. I will warn you, it is almost IMPOSSIBLE for an inexperienced photographer like myself to get good photos of a pink room.

Let me just tell you, it is PINK...like Pepto Bismol pink.

When we were building the house, we told her she could have any color room she wanted. Of course she chose pink. We thought it would be subtle....

WE WERE WRONG!

She loves it, and that's all that really matters!

Chelsea spends a lot of time with her Nana (my mother), so she's not in her room that much....that's why it may look a little "unlived-in".

When she is home....she LIVES on her chaise. That was the absolute best investment we could have made! If it were longer, she would sleep on it too!

I am currently working on a Nester-Inspired ragamuffin swag to go above her bed. I bought tons of fabric to make it, but I just didn't like it all together. I am on the lookout for some more fabric to make it all fluffy and complete.

The quilt and pillow shams are from Company Kids. I LOVE their stuff! I had already bought a comforter set for her room, but when I saw this, I just had to get it.

The pink silk curtains are from Pottery Barn Kids. The multi-colored shade is something I made, and the sheer over the shade is something that Chelsea INSISTED on having. As you can tell, that window is a work in process! LOL

This is a fabric covered cork board that I made for her room. As a matter of fact, I made everything on her walls. She is obsessed with so many TV and Movie stars, I wanted to make sure she had PLENTY of places to put all of her memorabilia without putting holes in the walls.

Between these two frames, I have a collection of "C's" to go between them. But just like everything else, I'm not finished with them yet.

This is picture of Chelsea's "storage wall". It is really great to store all of her "girlie things". It is messy, but I try not to touch any of her "stuff". I got the cabinets at Company Kids, also.

This is her "girly" chandelier. I am currently working on some shades to go on it. We surprised her with it while we were building.

And a Kelly's Korner post wouldn't be complete without a monogram, would it?

Now on to Jameson's Room. It is a little more finished than Chelsea's room. It has just been really easy for me to find things that I love for his room.

The quilt is also from Company Kids. Jameson actually picked this out himself. I wanted to go for a "Train Theme", but he had other plans. He made a great choice! I can't imagine his room without it! I also have a completed Nester-Inspired ragamuffin swag above his bed. We choose something light-weight to go directly above his bed so it wouldn't hurt him if he knocked it down on his head.

You KNOW that is going to happen at some point, don't you?

Here is his storage unit. This puppy has been a God-send for his room. Those red bins and cabinets hide a multitude of toys and little boy things. (I am embarrassed to say, I threw this picture together pretty quickly, so it's not as neat as it should be)

Here is his "stuff" wall. I made the board and the frame. I did manage to squeeze a train clock and a few train photos on this wall. It still needs "something", but I haven't found it yet.

These pictures are framed vintage train postcards that I bought on Ebay. This is my favorite thing in his room! He chose his favorite scenes, and told us where he wanted them. The red and green "open" and "closed" bars are antique switching plates from hubby's work.

His window treatments are nothing more than cheap, tab-topped curtains from Wal-Mart. I just dropped every-other tab to make them swag like this. I LOVE the way these turned out. Jameson just loved the color. He wanted his entire room RED, but hubby put a quick VETO to that. I love the alternative color...Behr Trojan Stone.

I did manage to get in some train-themed sheets, too! The sheets also came from Company Kids, but I am unsure if they still make them. They do have lots of other vintage-style sets, however.

Well, there they are. Thank you so much for visiting my itty-bitty blog and I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek into my home!

I can't wait to see everyone else's rooms!

I especially love the train sheets and Chelsea's chandy. Kathy (PS, good job on vetoing the red - Cait chose purple, really REALLY purple - it's going to take 20 coats of primer to cover it lol)K

  35. I love these rooms, though I'm partial to the pink one since I have 4 girls and no boys. I've got one room I really need to get decorated. It's the room of my two older girls, ages 17 and 12, and they want it green and pink - so I was drooling over that quilt! The drapes are so shimmery, like a princess's room. I love the chaise). I love furniture like that in a bedroom. My older girls have a loveseat in their room and it's great when they have friends over. This is such a great inspiration! Now I want to get bust on my girls' room!
