Today was all about the girl!

Today, Chelsea had her awards day at school. She had been looking forward to it for the past two weeks. Last year, she got a medal....so she was pumped to see what goodies she may get this year.

Because of her good grades, she is "exempt" from all of her "finals". (Not that she ever really has finals) Because of that, she actually did not have to go to school today (except for the awards). So, she decided she wanted to spend the morning with good ol' mom.

I was thrilled to death!

After a fun morning of watching yesterday's rerun of General Hospital on Soap Net, we watched the movie Cinderella Story with Hillary Duff. If you've never seen it, it is a really cute movie.

Perfect for a Mommy's and Daughter's day!

Then it was off to school. Chelsea was tickled to death to see all of her teachers and friends....you know, since it had been almost an entire day since she saw them all.

(She says she is excited to be out of school, but she is such a "social" person, it is tough for her to not see her teachers and friends for a long period of time.)

Here are some of the great pictures I got of Chelsea and her buddies:

This is Chelsea's great buddy, Megan.

(Megan's cool shades are from a recent eye surgery)

Chelsea and Megan have been friends/classmates since they were three years old. The most amazing thing is, Megan's brother, Jerry Ray, is the same age as Jameson and now they are in the same class!

This is Chelsea and her pain in the bootie friend, Jacob.

They have a Like/Hate relationship. They were running around the classroom hitting each other this afternoon. I so wish I had my video camera with me.

This is Chelsea and her "too cool for the room" friend, Bobby.

Bobby is great! He is like everybody's big brother. Everybody in the school knows him and loves him. He graduates this year and everybody already misses him!

This is Chelsea and Erica.

Erica is one of the fantastic helpers in Chelsea's room. She is a doll!

This is Chelsea, Brooke, and Brooke's hat.

Brooke is a wonderful helper in Chelsea's class. She is one smart cookie! Brooke already has her life all planned out. She starts college this fall, is getting her Special Education Major, and then will be taking Chelsea's teacher's place when she graduates.

This is Chelsea and Nurse Hydie.

Hydie is the school nurse. Our kids are fortunate that she gets to spend most of her day in their classroom. She is such a sweetie and just happens to be our next door neighbor, too!

This is Chelsea and Kayla.

Kayla has been a helper in Chelsea's classroom for a couple of years. The kids love her! She will be missed when she graduates this year.

Here is Chelsea and Ms. Gallman.

Ms. Gallman has been a Special Education assistant for many years (even though she doesn't look a day over 30). She was teaching when I was in high school. There is no way Chelsea's room could function without all of her knowledge and help. She says she is retiring this year. We are trying to tie her down and force her beg her to stay....at least until Chelsea graduates anyway.

And finally, here is Chelsea and Mrs. Ingram.

Mrs. Ingram has been Chelsea's Special Education teacher for the past two years. She has to be one of the sweetest people on the planet. Chelsea adores her, and I do believe the feelings are mutual. Mrs. Ingram tells me every time I see her that she wishes she had a classfull of Chelsea's. We are so very fortunate that she is in our lives!

---------------------------------

Now off to the awards ceremony! As we looked over the program, we realized that Chelsea's award was in the very LAST group. WOW, it's going to be a long afternoon!

Surprisingly, it went very quickly, and we were soon down to the very end.

Chelsea (and Megan) were awarded the PBS Award, which is given to all students with no discipline problems throughout the entire year.

Yup, that's my sweet little Chelsea! Too bad her brother will NEVER get one of those awards!

So, here is Chelsea getting her award.

She just broke right in front of that line to get it! LOL! She was completely embarrassed when she realized what she did!

Well, what do we have? It's a gift card to Target!

Why weren't awards that good when I was a kid? All I ever got was some stupid photocopied (and a bad photocopy at that) piece of paper.

The very best news of the day, however, was the fact that Chelsea is OUT for the school year!

WOOO HOOO!

Hopefully that means more Mommy and Daughter days in the near future!

------------------------------------

Oh, and I know a lot of you (myself included),have been having problems with assorted blogs not working well over the past couple of days. My buddy, Jenny, found out that the problems are being caused the "follower" program. Blogger is supposedly working on the problem, but in the meantime, I had to delete my "Follower" tab before I could even log onto my site this afternoon.

It just about KILLED me! I feel like I have just erased all my friends! Please know that I will get you all right back just as soon as Blogger gets their act together!

If you notice any problems with my blog, my comments or anything else, PLEASE send me an e-mail (addy in the left-hand side bar) and let me know so I can try to fix it!

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

The kids look so happy, and that says alot about their teachers. Glad you had such a good mommy/daughter day. Hugs, Kathy

  8. Congrats to Chelsea. I know you are proud of her. I have entire folders full of photocopied awards that my boys got when they were in school. Target gift cards would have been so cool. I just can't bring myself to throw away the photocopied awards, however.

  14. Chelsea is a doll. She looks like such a happy person, and how wonderful that she has such great grades and that she doesn't cause her teachers any discipline problems. Sounds like a dream child to me, and I know part of the reason is things like "Mother-Daughter Day". Congratulations Chelsea. laurie
