I was actually EXCITED to go to work yesterday!

You wanna know why?

Because one of my VERY BEST FRIENDS EVAH worked yesterday!!

Sharon, or Sharn Jean as I call her, answered our 911 call to help us out at work this week.

I found out that she was coming right before I left work Tuesday night.

I was just GIDDY, I tell ya!

Sharn Jean and I worked together at DWC for years before she left to pursue a career as a school nurse and I left to be closer to my (then) newborn baby boy.

Even though we still talk and are now Facebook buddies, I miss her horribly!

Sharon is just one of those friends that everyone needs. She is the most hilarious thing on this earth! She, fo' real, could have a career in stand-up comedy!

Jeff Foxworthy.....LOOK OUT!

But she's not just funny.....she is a true friend.

One of those rare people who come into your life and you just know that if you really needed something, she would be the first one there. She's been there through THICK and THIN....and goodness knows this Slacker Mama gotta' lot of THICK going on up in here. She even kept my dear, sweet hubby out of jail one day....LOOONG story! LOL!

Sharn Jean got to start her first day back at DWC by working the dreaded "Float" schedule. The Nurse who works the "Float" schedule basically sees all the patients who don't necessarily need to see the doctor. For instance, if you are just having lab work, or a pregnancy test done. She also puts all the pregnant patients on the monitor (that checks for contractions and baby's heart rate). Now I know that doesn't sound so bad.....and it's not.....BUT, with working the "Float" schedule also comes something else.....

It's a little something we like to call "Doing the Dishes".

"Doing the Dishes" is one of those Nursing duties that definitely has an "ICK" factor to it!

Let me explain.....for those of ya'll (which better be ALL of you ladies) that have their yearly "girlie" exams, there are certain *ahem* "instruments" that are used in the process. Now, in a perfect world, once those "instruments" are used, they are disposed of, buried, to NEVER be seen again. But this isn't a perfect world, so these "instruments" must be washed, sterilized, and reused again.

The Float nurse gets the "honor" of washing and sterilizing these "instruments".

I'll pause right here for those of you who need to walk away for a moment....

**la dee da**

**la la la la**

**whistling**

**looking down at my watch**

OK, are ya'll back now? Good!

I hope I didn't scare too many of you away!

And not only does she get to wash them, but she gets to do it RIGHT BEFORE LUNCH,too!

Fortunatly for all of our patients, once you've washed one "instrument", you've washed them all, and we do it without too much complaining (execpt there has been a time or two that we've had to actually throw them away....they were that bad).

After Sharn Jean got finished with "the dishes", we went for a scrumptious lunch at our old, favorite Chinese Resturant and got to spend some "Sharn Jean/Beeno" time together. (Robin = Beeno)

It was just like old times!

Our lunch break was over WAAAY too quick, and we were soon on our way back to the office. But not before we got a quick picture!

The afternoon was soon over, and we had to say our goodbyes (and another picture).

We even got our great buddy "V" to join in the picture, too (I have NO idea what she is doing with those bananas). It was just like old times!

I hope that it's not so long until our next visit!

I LOVE YOU SHARN JEAN!

Thanks for making my day (and my LIFE) GREAT!

  2. Awwww. This is one of those (few)things that makes me miss working, the friendships (and of course the good lunches). Tell my favorite doc I said "HI" which reminds me I'll be seeing ya'll in the near future.

  4. How great that you still get to work together occasionally. Friends like Sharn Jean are hard to come by, and she sounds like alot of fun. As for "doing dishes", YUCK! I thought parts of my job were gross (and believe me, they are), but YUCK. Hope you have a great rest of the week. Kathy

  7. Ewwwwwwwwwwww about "washing the dishes"! Ack! What hospital do you work at? One in Birmingham, right? I was at the doctor the other day thinking about how funny it would be if you worked there. :) I like the new look by the way...your blog AND your hair!

  8. Steph.....You MAY know banana lady....LOL!

Casey...I WISH I worked in Birmingham, but I work in an office near Atlanta. I do live in Alabama, but I hit I-20 and drive 90 miles in the other direction for work.

What OB do you use? I used Henderson/Walton when I was pregnant with the triplets and ADORED them.
