At least I can get my mail now.

Boy I got a big SHOCK today!

Let me start from the beginning....

I had to run a little errand in town before I picked Jameson up from school today. I needed a pen to fill out some paperwork, so I got one out of one of the miscellaneous holders I have in my car. I was in a hurry, so I just left the holder open.

I finished my business, and got back in my car, and started driving back towards home. When I got to the first red light, I noticed I still had the pen in my hand, so I started putting it back into the holder.

THIS is what I saw when I looked down....

Now normally, bugs don't bother me....at all. I usually just step on them, or suck them up in the Dust Buster and be done with them. But today, there was something about being at a red light, at a super-busy intersection, trapped in the car with this MONSTER. I really started freaking me out!

I couldn't shoo him out the window....he wouldn't budge.

I couldn't get out of the car because I am at the busiest intersection of our area.

What could I do?

Fortunately, he crawled down into the holder, giving me the opportunity to TRAP him until I could get home.

But I forgot about him.

I grabbed all of my stuff, preparing to wait in car-rider line for an hour, and thought I would drop by the Post Office to pick up my mail.

Then it dawns on me.....

THE BUG IS STILL IN THE HOLDER....WITH MY POST OFFICE KEY (The key with the ribbons on it)!

EEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK!

So, I bypassed the Post Office and went to wait in line. I took a few peeks, but he wouldn't budge.

I had the major heebie-jeebies while I waited on Jameson.

I told him all about it when he got in the car. He wanted to see it, but I didn't want to risk opening the holder while I was driving down the road. THEN, Jameson started squealing, I looked down, and his LEGS were coming out of the edges.

I'm telling ya, if he had crawled out of that thing, I probably would have wrecked!

Once we got home, I ran to get my weapon....my DUST BUSTER.

Unfortunately, no matter what position I put it in, it just wouldn't suck him out. So, I got up my nerve, and grabbed the pen, and pulled him out.

Surprisingly, the bug didn't budge, and I had to fling him off the pen into the grass.

Now, I am Jameson's newest HERO

AND

I can finally get my mail!

  3. You are a riot! I just can't believe you could make such a great story out of finding a bug in your car! I loved it! I'm so glad you and your family are safe at last! Personally, if I had seen that creature, I would have started doing what my family refers to as my "bug dance", where I jump up and down while screaming. So, I guess I would have been hit by oncoming traffic, cause I can't do the bug dance inside a car! laurie

  4. I'm pretty sure I would have sold my car. There's NO way I would have driven around in the same vehicle with that thing. You are a much braver woman than I!

  9. It probably is a good thing you didn't squish it. It would smell to high heavens if you did. Looks like a cousin of the stinkbug. Maybe not, but just the same...

  13. I can't even look at bugs without having nightmares. Speaking of...

I woke up this morning out of a very strange dream. Your family and The Duggers were all visiting my home. There were people everywhere. You and I were trying to make poached eggs for everyone and the eggs kept sliding around in the water. I woke up feeling anxious because we were saying we would never get everyone fed at the rate we were going. Can you imagine trying to make poached eggs for that many people??? :)

  16. Yep, it's a stinkbug all right. And be glad that you didn't squash it! And FYI, don't pick those things up or squish them with your hands, they can carry Chagas disease (at least in South American countries) A type of this bug called the "kissing bug" has been known to transmit the disease in Louisiana. More totally random info from your friendly vet tech lol. Kathy (ask me about the giant flying roach in our car in Florida lol)
