How much jail time do you get for counterfeiting?

Ideas that come out of the minds of children....

Children who want lots more things that his parents can afford.

Today we were discussing Christmas with Jameson. He's to the point that every stinkin' commercial that comes on is a must-have for this Christmas.

All day long we hear nothing but "I want this for Christmas!", "I want that for Christmas!" "But I really NEED that!"

It's really getting old.

So, this morning I told Jameson that he was going to have to pick FIVE things that he really wanted for Christmas this year.

JUST FIVE THINGS, because Santa doesn't have very much money this year, nor do his parents.

He quickly wrote down five things,

and then there were six things....

and then seven things....

The list eventually grew to ten things before we reminded him that he was to decide on FIVE things.

He thought about it, and thought about it and then said,

"HEY! I have a great idea! We can just take some of the money I have in my bank, make a copy of it on the computer, and just print off all the money we want! That way, you will have enough money to buy me everything I want for Christmas!"

He was so proud that he thought about that all by himself.

But then we had to bust his bubble and let him know that making "fake" money is against the law AND you can get sent to jail for it.

We thought that was the end of the conversation, but then he added "But how will the police actually SEE me making copies of the money?"

If you get to missing me, I will be at the jail house visiting my counterfeiting 7 y.o.!

  9. Jameson cracks me up! I love hearing his latest antics. You've been blessed with two very wonderful and unique children.

And, if he goes to jail for counterfeiting, I'll just copy some more money to post his bail!

  10. I so remember going through this with my kids growing up. My husband took it upon himself to sign us up to cook and serve at the Berkeley men's shelter on Christmas day.

We already cooked and served there as a family, with several family friends on the 3rd monday of every month, so he added Christmas day too. Brad was really upset at our children's attitude about presents and everything threy HAD to have.

This turned into a wonderful 10 year tradition for us. It turned into the kids buying gifts for the men in the shelter and sharing the day with those less fortunate. It really taught them that it wasn't all about getting a bunch of "stuff" and more than the friend next door.

It taught me a lot too. Brad made good decisions when he saw something that needed a solution and was always on the lookout for a teachable moment.

Please don't take this as any kind of "you need to do this speech" it isn't at all.

I think you son is hillarious. and he certainly keeps you on your toes.

  11. Its such as you learn my thoughts! You appear to understand a lot approximately
this, like you wrote the e book in it or something. I believe that
you simply can do with a few percent to power the
message home a bit, but instead of that, that is excellent blog.
A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.

  15. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words
in your post seem to be running off the screen
in Firefox. I'm not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I'd post to let you know.
The style and design look great though! Hope you get
    the problem solved soon. Kudos
