A good report deserves a treat!

Hubby had his final doctor's appointment today with the surgeon who did his carpal tunnel surgery.  His hands are doing so much better than before!  He's not 100% yet, but he's working on it every day.

As a matter of fact, this afternoon, he's at the golf range, exercising his hands....

Well, at least that's what he told me...LOL!

After out appointment, hubby was in the mood to go to a little out-of-the-way place....

We LOVE Dreamland!

We first had them when the triplets were still in the NICU.  One of the parents brought them to the hospital (from the original Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, AL) to share with everyone when their twins were being discharged.  One bite and we were hooked!

Imagine our surprise when we found out they were opening a new restaurant in Birmingham! We've been eating there ever since.  As a matter of fact, Dreamland is the very first restaurant Chelsea ever went too.  She didn't have any teeth yet, but she sure did like licking that sauce off my fingers!

When we first started going there, they were staying true to their humble roots.  They had a sign posted on the wall, right next to the menu that said:

"No beans, no slaw, no potato salad....DON'T ASK!"

They only served BBQ ribs, white loaf bread, BBQ sauce, and drinks.  Oh, and potato chips for the non-purists.   We didn't care, the ribs and sauce were what we were there for!

Over the years, they have expanded their menu to include chicken, beans, slaw, potato salad, salads, and a variety of things for the kids (ie: chicken fingers), but their ribs still remain our favorites.

Today's visit was fantastic and the ribs were as good as ever.  We even managed to get Jameson to eat a couple of ribs.....and almost ALL of the loaf bread....lol!

(Pardon the poor picture quality...I was using my el-cheapo camera and the lighting was directly behind everything I was trying to photograph)

The below neon sign is original from when they first opened and never fails to cause a laugh:

I could just bury my face right in the middle of all that good food (well, if it wasn't for the fire and stuff):

Why Hello, lovely.....

I could drink this sauce by the gallon:

The "proper" way to eat Dreamland ribs.....Place loaf bread on your plate, put rib (ribs) on top of the bread, and pour sauce over both:

One the ribs are gone, you eat the yummy bread, with all the rib goodness soaked in:

What?  I have to eat those?

Yes, this bread is more my speed....

Eating ribs is messy work:

These are a necessity:

As are these:

We left Birmingham today with a good report, sticky hands, full tummies, and something to make a certain dog really, really happy....
