Does this offend anyone else?

As you all know by now, I am a Nascar fan. Which means, that on any given weekend during their 36 week run throughout the year, my television will be tuned into whatever Nascar-related event that is currently on. Yesterday, it was tuned to ABC to watch the Aaron's 499 Race at Talladega.

For ages, one of the major complaints about Nascar's televised events is the enormous number of commercials they seem to have. Now I know, commercials = $$$, but after yesterday, I am seriously reconsidering my viewing habits.

Every single time (it seemed) that Nascar cut to commercial, THIS was playing:

I mean, I get it. SpongeBob is very popular, Burger King is popular (even though that King is REALLY FREAKY), and the song has a very catchy beat, BUT....

I DON'T WANT MY KIDS WALKING AROUND SINGING ABOUT "SQUARE BUTTS"!!!

And I sure don't want my kids dancing around and shaking their booties like those hootchies on that commercial!

I'm not a prude by any means, but this just crosses the line.

PERIOD!

So, until these ads are taken off the air, we WILL NOT be going to Burger King!

What do Ya'll think?

  1. So how do you let them know how people feel about this commerical...Didn't they do the Paris Hilton commercial?

  2. I would try to find a way to let them know that you don't appreciate their advertisement.

  3. Wouldn't you know it.....the Official Burger King website doesn't even have a complaint or comment tab? I am still hunting around for somewhere to send a complaint too. There are are few places, but I am unsure if they are legit.

  4. I do find this offensive. I also find that King character extremely disturbing. Actually, almost the entire ad campaign using this character creeps me out! If you find a place to complain, please publish it! Kathy

  6. The offensive thing about it for me is that it is directed at children. Why the heck do you need girls shaking their booties on an ad for a child's meal? I cannot stand that King, and I would think he would freak out young children. He freaks me out! laurie

  7. I so agree. I just wonder who in the world thinks up these commercials and then who signs off on them and why would these companies pay millions of dollars for such trash. I could really get on a soap box. Anyway, I do agree. Thanks for stopping by and your wonderful comments. I always appreciate your visit. Hugs, Marty

  9. You know what I don't understand? BK removed a commercial about "Tex-Mex flavor" b/c it offended the Hispanic group. (personally I did not get that one!) But, this is OK? This crap is NOT considered offensive? No wonder I pretty much stay on the pooter all nite blogging. No crappy commercials to have to watch. BTW, forgot to tell you - I heart your new bloggy design. Its sooo you (and thats a good thing!) :-D
