I LOVE Blogging!
Really, I do.
Why else would I have 220+ posts since December of last year AND spend hours a week reading through all of my favorite blogs?
BUT....
There is one thing I HATE about the whole "Blogging World".
Anyone wanna take a guess as to what that one thing is?
Let me give you a few hints....

WORD VERIFICATION!
These are just four of word verifications I have encountered today.
I don't know what it is or why it is, but my tiny little brain CANNOT comprehend these jumbled mix of non-sense letters!
I mean, letters are supposed to form WORDS for goodness sakes!
Right?
RIGHT?
I swear, I probably give up leaving comments on so many blogs because I can't figure out the stupid word verifications!
I start typing, and the "logical" part of my brain starts automatically putting in different letters to make up actual words.
Italicized letters are the WORST. I can't even figure out what some of those letters are, much less what order I'm supposed to be typing them in.
If I still can't figure it out after two or three attempts, I just give up.
PLEASE tell me that I'm not alone!
Anyone?
ANYONE?
Well, once I really got into this whole "blogging thing", I decided to make leaving comments as easy as possible for all of you. I removed ALL security measures that I could. I didn't want ANY road blocks in your way.
Well, I guess that kinda came back on me and bit me in the bootay. My new "buddies" from India decided to launch an attack, promoting their wares not just on one occasion, but TWO.
My poor itty-bitty blog.....victimized.
**SIGH**
So, I have decided to put the dreaded, mean, and impossible WORD VERIFICATION on my comments section.
I am SO SORRY!
Please don't hate me and if I BEG, will you try more than three times to leave me a comment?
PLEASE?
Thank y'all for being so understanding!

hello my sweet Robin!thanks for stopping by and wishing Sophia happy b-day, she had a great day..
ReplyDeletehappy halloween my friend i hope the kids have lots of fun...and nope i dont mind the word thingy, just for you though!..lol..
xx Silvia..
You mean people were leaving comments about trying to sell stuff? I've never had that problem, and I don't have word verification. I wonder if it's because of the ads you added???? I don't know, maybe not. I don't mind it, but I am tempted to skip it when I'm in a hurry. But for people I know and like, I do it!

That's a bummer that the spammers finally found you. I get that a lot too when they fill out my order form with their crappy spam and send it to me. I get more spam than I do actual orders! Actually, this word verification on yours isnt so bad..you can at least read the letters. Some word verifications thingys I've seen you cant even tell what the letters are! UGH!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin, sorry that you got hit by spammers. I've only had that happen once, one particular post had several comments left by our "friends" from across the world. I deleted the comments and haven't had a problem since, but I'm keeping my eyes open. As you can see, nothing will stop me from commenting on your blog, it's too much fun! Although I HATE word verification. Have a great day. Hugs, Kathy
ReplyDeleteyep.. they're bothersome little buggers.. but i use them too. necessary evil for blogland i guess.
ReplyDeleteGirl I will fight through the hated word verification for you anyday!! I had some of those goofy comments on my blog too. But it just happened once, so I haven't changed anything yet.
ReplyDeleteIf they do it again, I will have to do the same thing!!
btw "subtow" is the word verification I ahve to type for this comment. Not a bad one!
Lou Cinda :)
I have a hard enough time posting comments even without those word verification things. Most of the time the stupid word shows up as a big red X! The easiest way for me comment is on those blogs that don't have the popup box to comment in because most of the time, the pop ups either don't pop up, or they popup with "this page cannot be displayed". I'm surprised I got to type this!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I had someone leave a comment for a carpet cleaning business- must have been cuz my post had the word "carpet" in it or something! But I had no idea- maybe I need to add the word verification as well?! How do you do that? I think it's a great idea and you're doing the right thing, and the ones on Blogger aren't too hard to read either (unlike some!!)! Thanks for the "heads up!"
ReplyDeleteRobin, HA, I have no idea if I have the word verification or not?? I am assuming I do since I dont know how to remove such things, lol I will leave you a comment come hell or high water, you do the same, lol! Sue
ReplyDeleteRobin, As long as the word verifications are not

See, there really is good in everything! You crack me up, girlfriend.
I really don't like the word verification thing either, however it seems that there are some really different people out there and so maybe it is necessary. I will try to type the non-words the first time. lol Thanks also for stopping by and leaving such kind comments. I really appreciate it. Hugs, Marty
