Slacker Mama strikes again.

Well, here it is, December 14th, 2009.....

This day means a lot of things to me.

1. It's my wonderful, fantastic, incredible mother's birthday,

2. It's the one year anniversary of my very first blog post,

and 3. It's "opening day" for The Nester's Christmas Open House.

Christmas Tour of Homes with The Nester

I had plans people....

BIG, BIG PLANS!

I was going to get this house whipped into shape, even before Thanksgiving, and I was going to WOW all of Nester's readers with my fantabulous Christmas decorating.

My dining room table was going to be cleaned off and decorated to a tee, and my house was going to look amazing for all of the guests who just happened to stop by for a visit.

I spent hours and hours looking for the perfect accessories to decorate my front porch. Bought tons of garlands and ornaments to decorate all of my light fixtures. I've spent goodness knows how much on paper and ribbons I plan on using to make incredible ornaments for all of my family and co-workers.

I have just spent too much money, too much effort, and too much time for this house to look the way it does.....

UNFINISHED!

The only thing that is finished for Christmas in this house is our big tree.

Jameson's tree was finished until he got sent to the office at school (Yes, my FIRST grader got sent to the office and given two hours of in-school suspension), and part of his punishment was to have it forcefully removed from his room.

Chelsea's tree is up, but remains undecorated..... she's never here, so it's to the point I don't even want to bother with it.

I had my two front-porch trees up and in the pots, but they have been laying on their sides more than they have been standing up because of the bad weather we've had over the past several weeks.

I did finally decide to buy two artificial trees to put in the large pots on the porch, however, they remain in their unopened boxes.

The gorgeous mauve-colored pansies I found remain unpotted, wilting as we speak.

My cute little el' cheapo tables I had on the front porch were blown over by the wind and the legs were ripped off of them.

I have some great wreaths to hang on all my windows, but Marty decided it was finally time to take back the tall ladder that's been sitting in our garage for the past two years.....BEFORE he helped me put the wreaths up.

and my Christmas cards, that I've had in my possession for the past TWO months, are still in the box unfinished. (Almost the same situation as I was in last year.)

I have all of these huge plans all year long, and when the time actually gets here, I can't manage to get anything accomplished.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

It is so frustrating.

So my friends, I apologize for not having wonderful beautiful pictures of this year's Christmas decorations.

But just wait until next year......

I plan to dazzle you all!

LOL!

  4. Awwww Robin, it gets to be overwhelming, doesn't it? Follow my lead...do what YOU feel like doing when YOU feel like doing it. Since I've started taking this approach I get so much more done and I'm happy doing it! The pressure is off! :)
And happy blogging anniversary! May you have many, many more! :)

  5. It's a beautiful tree Robin. And I don't know how people get so much done and work, I really don't. I doubt our tree would be done if it weren't for Cait. We are keeping it very simple this year, and yes, my cards are still sitting on the dining room table making me feel guilty lol. Kathy

  6. Would it make you feel better to know that we don't even have our tree up yet???? Rain has significantly delayed our getting a tree. I have threatened to go and buy the faux one that I have been campaigning for for years now. We'll see....we WILL have one. I didn't do the banisters this year, but the fireplace mantle and the top of the antique desk got garlands......it's all okay, darlin......Christmas isn't cancelled and it will conme regardless and you and your family will enjoy it, whether the halls or decked out or not....smile, relax and get done what you can. But mostly smile and relax and love on your family.
