It's been a busy "vacation" week, so far!

This week, we were all supposed to be on vacation in sunny Florida.

But because of a certain oil spill, (THANKS BP!) we decided to cancel our plans and have a "staycation" instead.

Well, that was the PLAN,anyway.

Since a certain young lady will be having an 18th birthday party here on Saturday, we have been in hyper-mode getting things ready for the big event.

Normally, having an entire week off would give us plenty of time to get things done...

BUT, since we decided not to go to the beach, hubby decided to have his second carpel tunnel surgery done last week.

He's doing great, but with one still-healing hand, and one newly operated-on hand, he's not been able to do all the things that he normally does.

However, he has been doing way above and beyond what I expected he would/should  be doing after surgery.

We still have a TON left to do, but things are coming together slowly, but nicely!

Here are some pictures of a couple of things we have been working on....

Part of Chelsea's banner for her party...

AND, partial views of the almost-completed dining room project!

(The polka-dot fabric is leaving as soon as more curtain fabric arrives tomorrow)

It's great to see something you've had in your mind forever, come together like you hoped!

I want to wait until everything is just "perfect" to show completed pictures.

Then, as if we didn't have enough to do, hubby completely surprised me today by buying something that I have wanted needed forever....

AND, they are being delivered in the morning....so this evening was spent cleaning out the laundry room.

I am so excited about being able to actually wash clothes without having to re-spin each load 4 or 5 times, and then having to run each dryer cycle at least twice.

I may even be able to wash ALL the bedclothes in ONE day!

WOOOO HOOOO!

It's the little things that make me happy, you know...lol

------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of making me happy, thank y'all SO much for all of your suggestions for Chelsea's party!

Y'all have given me so many great ideas!

I wish you all could be here with us!

And thank you all for your great advice for iPhone apps, too!

So far, we've downloaded Facebook, Twitter, Tweetdeck, Amazon/Kindle (so I can read books), The Weather Channel (for hubby), a bar code scanner (for myself),  and a Spongebob game for Jameson.

I honestly cannot believe how easy using this phone has been!

I think it is so wild how much this phone can do....

However, you have to realize I am moving from a 4 y.o. Razor phone that can't even text, to this.

It's definitely a different world!

I also wanted to apologize for several of the past few days comments going to "moderation."

I thought it was because of "links" in the posts, but now it is moderating comments that don't have any links.

I haven't changed anything at all, so I don't know what the deal is.

I have also found out that Disquis only allows comments to be made on a post for 7 days.

Because of some of these issues, I think I am going to try to go back to the plain old Blogger commenting system.

If you have any problems leaving comments (using either system), please send me an e-mail @

I hope you all have a great week!!

  1. 7 days? I had no idea! And I'm having the same problem with needing to actually publish the posts myself. I thought it was just me.

YAY for a new washer and dryer! That would make ME very happy, too! Sorry your vacation plans had to get canceled, but staycations are nice, too. :)

Love the way your projects are coming together and can't wait to see the finished products!

Hope the hubs is all healed up and feelin' fine soon!
