We have another "baby" in the house!

Hey friends!  With all of the excitement (for us) of vacation, I forgot to share about our new "addition".

No, we didn't adopt a baby or another pet, but Chelsea did get something for her birthday that she's been wanting forever.

Prissy is a "reborn" doll that looks just like a real baby. Chelsea has hinted around that she really, really wanted one for a while now, so we finally managed to find a baby that would be a good fit for our family. We specifically asked for a baby that wouldn't cry at night and keep poor Mommy Chelsea awake all night. (if it were really that easy).

Baby Prissy was such a good girl on our trip and didn't wake us up once during the night!

While there, we went to the Carter's store and bought Prissy a whole new wardrobe! As expensive and cheaply made as most doll clothes are, it was a better investment to buy several preemie/newborn outfits that were on sale (40%-60% off!).

So expect to see more pictures of our newest baby, Prissy!

Let's hope it's not another 4 years!

Last week, we went on a much anticipated vacation to the beach. It was the first time we've all been somewhere as a family in 4 years. We definitely didn't plan on it being 4 years between vacations, but sometimes life and bills get in the way.

This year Chelsea was turning 21 and had initially asked for a party, but then decided she would rather have a vacation instead. We told her she could go anywhere she wanted to, and she chose "the beach!", so that is where we went!

(We also thought it was so awesome that Marty and I spent my 21st birthday in Florida just like Chelsea.)

We are so fortunate that the weather was fantastic...once we got there. I swear, the forecasted "scattered showers" followed us for the majority of the 260+ miles we drove! Once we got there however, the weather was perfect!

Now on to tons of pictures!

My precious Chelsea the morning of her birthday!

The last morning we were there, 5 stingrays were swimming near the shore!
LOVE this picture!
LOVE these two more than anything!

Love that smile!

I love this man!
My favorite picture from the whole trip! I love these people with all my heart!

Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head home. We had a wonderful time full of family and fun! We've already started making plans for next year's vacation (hopefully).  But, as much as we loved the beach, we were SO glad to get back home!  We just hope it's not another 4 years before we get to do it all again!

A new set of glasses around these parts

I feel like a horrible mother.

A few months ago, Chelsea had to go for a health physical.  While there, they asked to do a random eye test, where you read the letters that are on the wall.  Imagine my surprise and horror to learn that she couldn't even read the big "E" on the chart!  I could not believe Chelsea was having that much trouble seeing!

So, since that time, I've been trying to find an eye doctor that accepts her insurance.  Finally, Marty said he didn't care about insurance.  He wanted her to go to his eye doctor because they are always so nice to him.  They also have the machine that can pretty much tell you what your prescription needs to be, without strictly relying on the "Tell me which one is better....this one, or this one" type of test.  We felt this would be a better option for Chelsea because we aren't sure if she would be able to accurately convey what she needed to the doctor.

The exam went well and Chelsea did great!  She definitely needs glasses, but the doctor said "Don't worry mom, her vision isn't as bad as you think."  We think the initial problem was Chelsea not really being able to read the vision chart because of the letters.  Once this eye doctor changed to a picture chart, she did much better.

Chelsea picked out some really cute frames that she should have in a few days.  I think she's actually excited about getting glasses like Mommy and Daddy.  She's definitely come a LONG way from that 1 1/2 pound baby that had retinopathy of prematurity, which almost made her blind.

And the really crazy thing about all this, is that unbeknownst to us, the office did accept Chelsea's insurance!

I'll make sure to let you all see her fabulous glasses once she gets them!

Meeting Scotty McCreery, Part 2

Thank y'all so much for such a positive response to my post yesterday with the videos of Chelsea.  We have been blown away by your comments!  Chelsea and my mom just got wireless internet (my mom lives in the boonies), and they spent all day reading your sweet notes!  They really made our day!

I was hoping to be able to get some photos edited of the meeting, but it's not going to be possible to "fix" Chelsea's closed eyes.  So, we've decided to just embrace the closed-eyes pictures and post them for everyone to see

Coveted meet-and-greet passes!

The kids are ready!
Between the guidelines/rules from the fan club and the concert hall, our hands were pretty tied when it came to cameras/photographs. Originally, we didn't think we could bring in a camera at all, but at the last minute, we were told we could bring in a non-removable lens camera (aka: a point-and-shoot).  Also, Scotty's manager took all the photos (except for all of the cell phone pictures I snuck in)   I am just thankful I did manage to get pictures.

My attempt at sneaking a photo.  Scotty caught me.  LOL
And here are the "closed-eye" photos.  These are great pictures, except for the eyes.

The manager (who took all the pictures) said he had finally got one with her eyes open (I couldn't actually see the pictures).  This is that picture.  :/
He was really sweet and Chelsea was thrilled!

Since I did have a badge on, I thought I would get my picture made, too!

This is our seats.  I pre-ordered these, through the fan club, within minutes of them going on sale.  WORST.SEATS.THERE!  We were 5 rows from the very back.  There was NOBODY sitting behind us and the 6 rows in front of us were EMPTY, too!  Next time, I will DEFINITELY take my chances with Ticketmaster.  At least we had room to spread out.
Paul McDonald (another fabulous American Idol alumni) also performed, accompanied by his wonderfully talented wife, Nikki Reed.  For you Twilight fans out there, you may recognize Nikki as the actress who played Rosalie Cullen.  What you may not know is that Nikki and Paul have written and made a beautiful album together.  We were blown away by their music! (You can order here)  Nikki was gracious enough to endure tons of fans, including myself.

Paul signing autographs.  This was as close as I could get to him.

I rushed back to our seats and asked Chelsea if she wanted to go meet Nikki (considering she is a huge Twilight fan), but surprisingly, she said "No!"  She later said she was scared she would miss one second of Scotty, and she just couldn't risk that.  HAHA!  However, Jameson asked if he could go meet her.

He was SO excited!  He said he couldn't wait to tell everybody he met a "really famous person." He even wants to go see Breaking Dawn, Part 2 now.  LOL

And of course, a couple of shots of what we came for....

Scotty put on a really great show!  He sang a mix of songs from his first album, his Christmas album, and songs originally performed by other artists.  He really had the concert hall hopping!

We all had a fantastic time and were so glad that Chelsea finally got to meet "her man"....and a few others along the way!

Meeting Scotty McCreery, Part 1

Friday night, Chelsea was able to have a dream come true.
She got to meet Scotty McCreery.

Click the photo to make larger
Because of strict rules about photography and camera usage, I don't have a lot of "great" photos. All of my photos had to be made with my phone and a piece of junk point-and-shoot camera.  I've been trying to edit them as fast as I can, but I need some major editing on the "best" photos.  To be honest, I'm looking for someone who can edit Chelsea's eyes OPEN.  Every single stinking picture we have of her with Scotty, her eyes are closed.  Yes, she definitely takes after her daddy!

Anyway, until I can get that all figured out, I wanted to post some videos of the events of Friday, so you can see how completely excited she was.

PLEASE excuse my horrible accent, loud laughter, and just all-around annoying voice.  Just focus on Chelsea and the pure joy in her reactions!

(And of course, I can't get the best video to upload.  GRRRRRR! See if this link to my FB page will work:

Chelsea finding out she gets to meet Scotty McCreery.

We really did have a fantastic time, and we even got to meet a very unexpected person....a Cullen!

Hopefully, I will be able to get some decent photos up within the next couple of days!   If I can't get the photos fixed, I will just post the ones I have.

Anything for my baby girl!

Hey my friends!
It's Thanksgiving week around here and things are in full swing for food, family and fun on Thursday!  My family is coming here for brunch Thursday morning and then off to the in-law's for dinner.  I cannot wait!
Well, I can wait for the HUGE mess I still have in my dining/craft room.  I have until Thursday to get the world's largest mess cleaned up in there so we can use it for our Thanksgiving brunch!  Marty helped me clean out some things today, so the rest will have to be done on Wednesday.  Hopefully we will get everything ready without too much stress!

Anyway, today's post isn't about Thanksgiving, it's about Chelsea.  Chelsea is obsessed with three things in her life:  General Hospital, Scotty McCreery, and Taylor Lautner.  She gets to watch General Hospital M-F, 52 weeks a year.  She got to see Scotty in concert over the summer and will be seeing him again in December (shhhhhh, it's a surprise).  So, that leaves Taylor Lautner.  It just so happens that Mr. Lautner was going to be in an itty-bitty movie starting this weekend and she just had to go see it,
Along with 10,000 other people.

Not only did she get to see the new movie, she got to see ALL the Twilight movies...

one right after another!

So, at 10:00 am Thursday morning, we got to the theater and stood in line with some fabulous folks!

We got in our seats around 11:30, and settled in for a LONG day of Twilight.

You think we had enough snacks?

The best things about the marathons that our wonderful theaters have, they let you come and go as you please, offer free refills all day on drinks and popcorn, have discounted nachos and hot dogs, and allow you to bring food in from other places.  They really do make it super fun and easy for everyone.

We sat through the first 4 movies, and at 10:00 pm, (12 hours after getting to the theater), the main event!

We loved the movie, even though "the scene" completely freaked Chelsea out (and she even had bad dreams about it that night).  The crowd yelled, and clapped, and cried.  It was a very appropriate and wonderful  ending to a phenomenal series!

We got home around 12:30 am, and were so keyed up, we couldn't go to sleep....of course, that could have something to do with the 1,000 pieces of candy we may have eaten over the course of the day.
A movie marathon isn't something that I would normally do, but I will do anything to put a smile on my baby girl's face!

Scotty McCreery's Biggest Fan!

For Chelsea's graduation, we wanted to surprise her with a very special gift.  She is obsessed with last season's American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery, so we surprised her with tickets to one of his shows.  That was in May, and she has literally been counting down the days until the concert.  Fortunately, the concert date got here before she exploded!

She planned her outfit for weeks and this is what she came up with:

We didn't realize the hat could be shaped until she wore it like this all day.

I think she had on every single item that's in the Scotty McCreery fan club store!

She was all set, until she saw something that I made for her....

I told her she could still wear her original shirt, but once she saw this, she wanted to wear it!

The complete outfit!

She's ready to hit the road!

After the LOOOOONG drive, she's ready to be out of the car!

Jameson just wants to be back at home, playing on his computer.

Waiting in line!  One of the perks of getting there REALLY early...being right in the very front of the line!

We finally managed to get a little smile on Jameson's face...however, right as we were finally allowed in, he got sick and {almost} passed out.  He didn't eat much all day, so between that and the heat, it was just too much for him.  Once we got some food/drink into him, he was 100% better.  What is it with my kids and passing out?  Chelsea does the exact same thing.

See?  All better!

Waiting, waiting, waiting...

I think I'll just take a nap!

Jameson bored out of his mind.

The only shot of the two of them together.

Chelsea wasn't going to let the threatening looking rain clouds dampen her excitement!

After a LOOOOONG wait, the man, Scotty made his grand appearance!  Chelsea is beyond excited!

Here he is!  He was even better in person than on the radio!

Isn't that smile the absolute best?

Jameson still wasn't feeling it.

Oh wait!  Is that Jameson participating??

What?  I wasn't doing anything!

Marty enjoying the show.

See....I really was there!

The Band Perry.
I was just floored by how humble and thankful the group was.  Their singing wasn't bad either!  LOL

And here is the headliner....Brad Paisley.

But Brad wasn't the one we went there to see. So after about 5 songs, we decided to beat the traffic and head out.  I'm sure his show was awesome, but this concert wasn't about us, it was all about our very special little girl and her love for Scotty.

These videos are worth it all!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
