Oh wow Robin! That is totally amazing. I definitely know how you are feeling. While my Taylor is too profoundly developmentally disabled to be able to vote, I remembered how happy she was when she went and got her ID. She laughed hysterically getting her picture made.
Congratulations to Chelsea! I'm excited for all of you.
Dawn, I know Taylor had to be so excited!!! Even though Chelsea is developmentally delayed, too, she is always with my mother, who is big-time into politics. She's been going with her to vote ever since she was a baby. She couldn't wait until she turned 18 and is finally able to vote "for real". We are having a local runoff in a couple of weeks, and she's already got her sample ballot filled out!
Huge congrats to Chelsea! I remember being so excited to be able to register on my 18th birthday, and I think it's so neat to see other youngsters excited, too! You must be so proud!
I am a small-town, Southern gal. I have been married to the love of my life for 24 years, and have four wonderful kids...a 21 y.o. daughter and a 10 y.o. son, and also a son and a daughter already in Heaven. We are members of The Church of Christ and are trying to raise our children to be faithful followers of Christ. I am a phone triage nurse for a busy OB/GYN office near Atlanta, but spend most of my time at home in Alabama with my family. We have just built a house after living in our "starter home" for twenty years. We did a lot of the work ourselves, and still have a TON of work to do.
I love to be "crafty", but am often guilty of buying all of the supplies to make something, and just never finishing it. "Not finishing things" seems to be a theme with me, hence the word "Slacker" in my blog title. I am hoping this little blog will motivate me to complete the tasks I've started!
