OMG! OMG You Guys!

My super fantastic, wonderful "Legally Blonde" weekend is officially over, and I am so sad.  This is the first weekend that Marty and I've had alone in about three years, so it was waaaay overdue.  We had an even better time than I could have even imagined!

First, we stopped at Marty's favorite burger place to eat some lunch.

This would be a bacon, EGG, and cheese burger!

My yummy french dip!

Our beautiful, historic hotel.

Here is our room about 2 minutes after we checked in.  Notice what is on television.

**Note to self: don't plan romantic weekend with hubby during Alabama football season**

After watching the first half of the game, we decided to take a walk around the area and enjoy the beautiful day.

***Anybody reading this who is familiar with Birmingham knows that this isn't the best neighborhood in Birmingham, so I know y'all are probably going to laugh at our little stroll.  But, the people we did encounter were really nice (except for the gorked-out drunk/high woman sitting on a park bench) and the scenery was really gorgeous!***

This is the Birmingham Public Library.  It was directly across the street from our hotel.  I just loved the architecture.

This is the Jefferson County Courthouse.  It was HUGE!  Why does a courthouse need to be so big?  Anyway, the building was beautiful.

Gorgeous fountain in Linn Park

A continuation of the first fountain.  The water ran all the way down the park, towards the street and ended in a pool at the end.

Hottie hubby taking in the sites.

More of the fountains

The Birmingham Museum of Art.  We had free tickets to go, but when we got there, it looked deserted, so we decided to watch the game instead to go for a walk instead.

Why Hello Mr. Squirrel!

Hubby standing on the street corner.  Maybe not the best place to be in this part of the city.  HAHA

Beautiful flowers

SEE!  I really was there!

After our walk, we decided to enjoy dessert in the hotel's restaurant
.

Marty's

Mine....obviously I had already taken a bite...haha!

Marty swiped the camera.

My response:

Gorgeous flowers that were part of a spectacular wedding at the hotel this weekend.

We made it to the arena!  It was raining, so we were just goofing off in the car.
(Doesn't Marty look fantastic in the pink?)

Surprisingly, there wasn't as much "Pink" as I expected.  I mean, come on people, we are talking ELLE WOODS here!

We weren't allowed to bring cameras into the arena, so this is the only picture I was able to get with my phone.  I wished I could have taken my good camera with me and taken great pictures!

Our seats were so much better than we expected.  We basically had most of the row to ourselves and nobody sat behind us, either.  Getting in-and-out was a breeze.  We were able to park right in the front and just walk right in.  There are no words to describe how incredible the musical was!  The sets were much smaller than the actual Broadway production, but everything else was exactly the same...the clothes, the songs, the script, everything (with exception of the actors, of course).  I think I had a huge smile on my face from the very first "Oh My God" until the last "Legally Blonde"!  If I wouldn't have annoyed the person right in front of me so much, or embarrassed Marty so much, I probably would have stood up and sang the entire play along with the actors!  HAHA!  I am so glad I got to experience this!

Marty even said once we got back in the car "It was a lot better than I thought it would be!"

It was everything I could do to keep myself from buying tickets for today's show, too!

Once the show let out, we were STARVING!  It had been about 10 hours since our last full meal.  Unfortunately, not much is open at that time of night in downtown, so we ended up at the "Awful Waffle" (Waffle House).  We spent many a night at the Waffle House when the kids/Chelsea were/was in the hospital, so it was like an old faithful friend.  We did, however see some interesting people there:

Oh how I wish this picture showed her fishnet stockings better!

It was the girl dressed in the black's birthday.  The were on their way to "da club" to celebrate.

And NO, there isn't a back to either one of those tops.....

We survived our meal and headed back to the hotel.  There was a wedding there right before we left, and when we returned, the reception was just winding down.  It was pretty obvious there was an open bar at the reception.  One of the bridesmaids, apparently very drunk, grabbed me as I walked back in and kept telling me how much she loved my "bling".  Marty and I laughed SO hard when she finally let go of me!

We asked the lady working the desk at the hotel to take this picture when we got back.  The was the best of the two.... : /

We were able to sleep in until almost 9:00 the next morning!  We never, ever, ever get to sleep that late!  It was fantastic!  We ate our complimentary breakfast buffet and then started our journey back to reality.

I had a fantastic time, but was so happy to be back home with my wonderful little family!  I just hope it's not three years before we can do it again!

Tonight's the Night!

Tonight I get to mark one HUGE thing off my "bucket list"!

I've always wanted to see a Broadway musical for as long as I can remember....but I knew the likelihood that would actually happen was slim-to-none considering I don't like to fly, I don't like crowds, and I don't like strange places.

Then I learned about the Traveling Broadway show....

Hmmmm, I wonder what the likelihood that an actual Broadway musical would come to my comfort-zone of  Munford, Alabama?  Well that would be NONE considering there isn't anywhere to perform a play, unless you count the old high school gym.  HAHA  But seriously, I wondered if the traveling shows would come to the South?

Two years ago, MTV did something that I've never seen done before.  They actually showed the entire Broadway musical of Legally Blonde on television.  It was SO COOL!  I watched every second of it and just knew I had to see it in person!  The broadcast of the show, led into their new reality show "Legally Blonde, the Search for Elle Woods"

I loved that show and wouldn't miss an episode.  It was so neat to see what actually goes on in the production of a Broadway Musical.  I was thrilled that my favorite actress from the beginning, Bailey Hanks, WON!

Unfortunately, Legally Blonde's Broadway run didn't last much longer (not the fault of Bailey, I'm sure), but the traveling tour continued across the country.  I wouldn't be able to see it on Broadway, but maybe I could see it somewhere else!

Last year, I was thrilled to find out that Legally Blonde was coming to the FOX Theater in Atlanta!  Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication, I didn't get to go.  I was crushed!  I thought I had just lost my last chance to see Legally Blonde in person.

Well, fast forward to a couple weeks ago.  I had my television tuned to a channel that I normally don't watch.  Then, I heard the chorus "Oh My God, Oh My God You Guys!"

HUH?  That sounds like Legally Blonde!

I ran to the television, and sure enough, there it was....LEGALLY BLONDE!

Better yet, it was playing in BIRMINGHAM in a couple of weeks!

I FREAKED OUT!  I immediately ran to the computer, whipped out my debit card and ordered two tickets!  I didn't know who was going with me, but dagum-it, I was going!  Not only is it the one musical I've wanted to see, they are performing in Birmingham, which is totally in my comfort zone!

It can't get much better than that!

Oh yeah, well I guess it can.  My wonderful and fantastic hubby actually wanted to go with me...AND....this has turned into an entire weekend for just the two of us!  We are leaving in just a bit, spending the day in Birmingham, may go to the Birmingham Museum of Art (it's free today with ticket from the Smithsonian!), eat fantastic food, and then spend the night at the Tutwiler Hotel.  I can't wait!  This will be the first time we've been alone (other than hubby's hand surgeries) in about 3 years!

Jameson isn't real happy with us right now ("Mommy, you get to see a play AND go to the museum without me?  That's not fair!"), but he will get over it!

So, to get you all in the mood for Legally Blonde, I thought I would share one of my favorite scenes from MTV's broadcast!

ENJOY!

This is shaping up to be a GREAT week!

Sorry for the sporadic nature of my posts lately (well, let's face it, I'm always pretty random with my posts).  Between my new work schedule (that is kicking my bootie), a birthday party for a special little man, and a baby shower for two of my favorite people....blogging, as well as the rest of my life, has taken a back seat.  Today has been my first "FREE" day in several weeks and I am LOVING IT!

Well, I don't guess it's totally free....I've got TONS of laundry and cleaning to catch up on.  That in itself is going to take me forever to get done.  How do 3 people make such a big mess?

ANYHOW, I am hoping this week ends up as well as I hope it is!

First, when I finally made it home from work last night...20 minutes later than I was aiming for... hubby actually had dinner ready and my favorite television show paused and waiting for me! (Thank you DVR!)

GLEE!!

I've been counting the days until the new season of Glee started!  I am a TOTAL GLEEK!

There were a few new characters last night.  One of which kinda stunned me as I watched:

This is Coach Beiste (pronounced "beast").  When I first saw her, I wasn't quite sure what I was seeing.  Was this Coach Tenaka dressed up like a woman?  A new transvestite-turned-football-coach?  Just a really unusual-looking woman?  It took the entire show, but I finally realized Coach Beiste was in fact, a woman.  A real woman.  I googled her and found out that she is really pretty attractive female named Dot Jones:

Isn't it amazing what a bad hairdo, wardrobe, and make-up can do?

The new, earlier time kind-of threw me for a loop, but thankfully we have DVR and I was able to watch it from the beginning!  The new season started with a bang, and just got better every second!  Next week's show features the music of Britney Spears.  I've even heard that Glee was going to feature The Rocky Horror Picture Show this season, too!   Can it get any better?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

For the next couple of days, I hope to be able to finish some small projects around here.  Normally, I would be chomping at the bit to decorate my front porch for Halloween, however, a certain spastic puppy has decided to chew on and/or eat every single thing outside that isn't cemented down.  I fear for my foam pumpkin's lives!

(This is what happened a week-or-so after decorating last year thanks to a neighborhood dog)

This year we may end up with only a wreath on the door and a few mums in my pots.  Bummer.....I really love decorating for Halloween!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, Saturday we are planning to do something that I NEVER thought I would get to do.  Back during the summer of 2008, an obscure little reality show on MTV caught my attention one night.  One episode and I was HOOKED!

Since that show, one thing that's been on my "bucket list", is to see this show....one way or another!

That's all I'm going to say about that for right now, but as the week progresses and the plans become more solid, I will write more!

I hope you all are having a most fantastic and wonderful week!
