Mama's Mumblings

I'm still here!  Sorry about the lack of normal beginning of the week posts.  I really have no excuse....just too lazy to write anything down. I guess the summer heat is getting to me.   HAHA!

-------------------------------------

Thank you for all the prayers for my niece, Stephanie, and her new baby boy, Reed!  He is doing GREAT!  He's no longer in the NICU and has been moved to the Step-down unit.  He's breathing on his own, with no oxygen.  He's still being fed with a NG tube, but at the rate he's going, he will be sucking down a bottle soon!

He had hiccups and was wide awake!

He had to have a sock monkey.  Go here to read Stephanie's hilarious sock monkey adventures.

Stephanie got to hold him for the first time yesterday!  SO PRECIOUS!

Proud daddy Lance holding his little man.

The funny thing is....this is the FIRST baby Stephanie has ever held!  Doesn't she look like a natural?

Here is Stephanie's blog post about Reed's surprise delivery!
(Seriously still laughing at the "Googling 'Can't stop peeing'")

(I totally stole these pictures from Stephanie, so if you would like me to remove them, too bad.....no seriously, I will, but I will be sad about it...haha)

--------------------------------------

Speaking of Reed, since he is doing so well, I really have to get on the ball and finish his banner!  I was waiting to get it done for his shower, which is at the end of this month....but he's doing so well, he's going to need it sooner!
--------------------------------------

Speaking of banners, I got paid for my first official banner last week!  It's a really good feeling to actually get paid for all of your hard work.  Thank you so much Kate for trusting me with your order!

As I posted here, Hubby and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary on Saturday!  We RARELY get to do anything without the kids, but my incredible mommy watched them for us and we went to see TWO movies and ate a new Italian restaurant.  It was so nice to be able to choose what to see and where to eat without objections from the little people!

We saw Cowboys and Aliens

Photo from here

It was good, (especially Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford)  but not the best movie I've ever seen.  I'm not a big "Western" fan, though.

We also saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes

 Photo from here

Oh my goodness, this movie was FANTASTIC!  I am a HUGE old-school Planet of the Apes fan, so I was really disappointed in the remake with Mark Walberg a few years ago. (Which, as a matter of fact, was the last anniversary movie we went to)  I wasn't holding out much hope that this version would be good either, but boy was I wrong!

It doesn't follow the story line of the original Rise, but it is SO GOOD as it's own movie!  If you are looking for a great movie to see, I definitely recommend this one!

I have some of the best co-workers ever!

Thanks Trina and Ann for making yesterday so special!  I love you both!

--------------------------------

Well, I guess I really did have more to talk about than I first thought!  I hope you all have a fantastic rest of the week!  I'm going to spend the next few days enjoying my kid's last few days of summer vacation!

Calm weekends are SO overrated!

Hey everybody!  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

I was excited because this was supposed to be a calm, uneventful, 3-day weekend with hubby and the kids.  Marty was off and we didn't have anything planned except for catching a movie or two.

Well, first thing Friday morning, we got a frantic phone call about my niece Shelby.  She was in a lot of pain, and was headed to the emergency room.  We were scared to death for her, and I got there as fast as I could.  Once there, we waited and waited and waited.  It's a good thing she wasn't in any pain or anything...

Sheesh!

Finally, they got her back to a room and poked and prodded around for a while, and after about 6 hours, they told her she had a kidney stone.  But it was OK, because it had passed into the bladder and may or may not come out at anytime.

OK, so that's good to know....I think.

At least she was feeling better, and got to go home and rest for the rest of the day.  Oh, and she did pick up some snazzy new footwear in the process.

-----------------------------------------------

Saturday consisted of Marty cutting grass and then running over a yellow jacket's nest and getting attacked by a swarm of them.

Around the same time, I was attempting to scrape up some Scentsy wax from the kitchen floor (I love the product, but it is DANGEROUS around my house), lost my balance, and cracked the back of my head on the outside edge of the island, bashed my elbow, and bit my lip.

Needless to say, Marty and I didn't leave our recliners for the rest of the evening.

-----------------------------------------------

Sunday morning started bright and early with a phone call, calling Marty into work, AGAIN.  Followed by another phone call from my sister-in-law thinking her daughter, Stephanie (our niece) (from Life of a Farmer's Wife) may be having pre-term labor.  She was 32 weeks pregnant; not due until September 26th.

A little while later, I get a second phone call letting me know she was going to deliver and the baby was breech!  After several phone calls and texts to everyone in the family, we find out she is getting prepped for a C-section.

The next thing we know, baby Reed is here, weighing in at 3# 8oz, and 16" long.  He was transferred to a hospital with a NICU that is more equipped to handle preemies. He is (at the time of my typing this) doing great and breathing on his own!

I know they would appreciate any thoughts and prayers you could send their way.  Having a preemie is not something I would wish on my worst enemy!

----------------------------------------

Now that it is already Sunday night, I am wondering where my calm, uneventful long weekend went?

Who needs that?  Calm weekends are SO overrated!

Mama's Mumblings

I hope that all of y'all have had a wonderful and fantastic Easter weekend!
It seemed like we were running for most of the time, so I didn't have time (or brainpower) to do much blogging.

As you can see, I've got a new look!

Thanks for the new fantabulous design by Leslie at Sweetie Baby's Custom Blog Design

I {heart} Leslie so much!  If any of y'all out there are looking for a new dress for your blog, make sure you check out Leslie's designs.  If you follow Sweetie Baby's on Facebook, you may just find yourself a really good deal!

-------------------------------------------------

Thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers for our niece, Shelby!

Her back and arm seems to be healing well, but we will know more after her visit to the plastic surgeon this week.   We have LOVED getting to spend a ton of quality time with Shelby and her mom, Penny, over the past week....it's just too bad it took an accident to make it happen.  We've really missed a lot over the past several years!  Don't ever take your friends and family for granted!

------------------------------------------

And finally, since my brain is completely fried after a LONG day at work, I'll end this post with some pictures from this beautiful Easter weekend!

 The Easter Bunny came!

Chelsea showing off her Steven Tyler necklace (yes, she likes him)

How much stuff can ONE Lego kit have in it?

No clue what Jameson is looking at..lol!

My diva!

Miss Mallory's first Easter!

Our family photo!  (Even though Marty isn't looking at the camera....at least his eyes are OPEN! LOL)

Miss Mallory and her daddy, Clay.

 Tons of food!

See below for explanation...lol

This is our niece, Stephanie (from The Life of a Farmer's Wife) and she's having a baby!  She colored the inside of the cheesecake blue to let us know she's having a BOY!  It was SO FUNNY with everybody trying to swipe a cheesecake to find out the sex first!

The Three Amigo's! Jameson (L) is 8, Nathanial (center) is 9, and Braxton (R) is 7.  Yeah, They grow them BIG in Braxton's family!  LOL

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
