Mama's Mumblings

Hey friends!  Yeah I know, it's been over a week since I last posted.  I would like to say it's because my life has been so exciting and action packed, but that would be a lie!  LOL

I've been sick-as-a-dog and swamped with orders, so I really haven't had time for or felt like doing anything fun or exciting.

I know you are all jealous and want my life.  Just admit it!  HAHA!!  (Totally kidding!)

I almost screwed up BIG TIME before the Alabama game on Saturday.  I almost forgot to hang my lucky wreath back up on the door!

Last year, I only took the wreath down for ONE game (during the week of Halloween) and we LOST! SO that wreath went right back up on that door and didn't come down again until after the National Championship game!  It must have worked, because we won!  LOL

I just realized that I never posted about the last EXTREMELY fun and exciting thing I did.  Marty and I got invited to the official #TwitterSupperClub part 2!  Katherine and Grayson (Grass Stains) invited us to their house for fun, food, and friendship.  We had an incredible time with Kat and Grayson, along with Rachel and Chris (Grasping for Objectivity in a Subjective Life) and Stephanie and Tadd (Plain Chicken)!  I swear, we need to do this every week because I'm telling you, these people are FUNNY!  I'll try to get my act together and do a proper post in a few days.  But in the mean time, you can enjoy Katherine's post about the night!

I took off work the to be with Jameson during the first week of school, and was scheduled to go back the next week on Wednesday and Thursday.  Well, guess who got sick-as-a-dog Tuesday?  Yup, that would be ME! I was so sick Wednesday and Thursday, I could barely move.  I did manage to make it from the bed to the bathroom to the recliner, and that's about all the movement I had for those two days.  I HATE, HATE, HATE that I had to call in to work, but driving that 100+ miles each way would have been impossible!  So, that means I went almost 3 weeks without working.  Going back this week was ROUGH!

I went to Wal-Mart today JUST to buy drinks and cat food....

**sigh**  You see how well that worked out, right?

Finally, fortunately this year has been going pretty well for Jameson.  So far, we've been able to keep a handle on his ADHD and he's tackling homework like a champ.  Some nights have been worse than others, but it's mostly on the days that our routine has been disrupted.  One thing that his school has started this year is working great, too.  They have starting using the Class Dojo system to help parents be able to see how they have been acting/participating during the school day.

The first week, Jameson had some problems with talking in class and in the hall, but once he realized that I knew about that before I even picked him up from school each day, he's been at 100%!  He gets "thumbs up" for participation, keeping his goals, finishing his work, working as a group, etc....  So far, it's been working great!

We went to get new championship shirts...

As most of y'all know, I'm a huge Bama fan.

This weekend's last-second win to claim the SEC Championship (for the 23rd time), was only made sweeter by who their opponents were...The Georgia Bulldogs.

I work in Georgia and am surrounded by Bulldog fans.  Even though it's not as bad as the rivalry between Alabama and Auburn fans, there is still a good bit of smack-talking that goes on every year.  This year was no exception.

Because BAMA WON, I feel it is my duty to represent my team well and rub.it.in.

After church, our intentions were to get SEC Championship shirts.  However, once we saw what was available, nothing really caught our eye.  So, we ended up with these:

This is almost identical to a shirt I already have.  Why mess with what works, right?

And as for the guys...

They bought matching hunter orange ball caps.

And as for Chelsea, she couldn't care less about football and only wears t-shirts that are Scotty McCreery or Taylor Lautner related.

So, I guess we will wait until Bama wins the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game against Notre Dame in January and buy our championship shirts then.

Mama's Mumblings

Hey everyone!  I hope you all had a fantastic Labor Day weekend!

We did, because we did absolutely NOTHING, which is our very favorite thing to do!  Marty has been working so much overtime lately, it has been really nice to have him home for four whole days in a row.  However, as I am writing this, we have having flooding, storms, wind, and lots of power outages....he still may be called in before the morning (hopefully not, though)

We've gotten much needed rain and cooler temperatures.  I almost feels like Fall outside.  I just wish that Fall and the rain didn't decide to come all on one day (as my friend, Tiffany, said on FB).

I have been working a little bit on my Halloween decor.  I've managed to get this almost ready to go:

I'm going to add some buckles to the shoes (that are on "her" feet) and "plant" the legs in an urn outside.  I found the shoes at the thrift store for $0.98!  Not too bad, huh?  I loved the other shoes (on the chair), but no matter how hard I shoved, I couldn't get those stiff mannequin feet to go in them.  HAHA!  I do have some other plans for those, however!  If the weather hadn't been so bad today, I would have probably put them out already!  So what if Halloween is still almost 2 months away!

Since we had no plans this weekend, I also decided to get a head start on some Halloween/Christmas crafts I want to make.

I stopped before I attached everything together, because I promised the PTA president that I would help with the Box Tops for Education stuff for the school.  I've never seen so many teeny-tiny box tops in my life!  After cutting, checking expiration dates, and attaching I-don't-know-how-many of them to their papers, I decided to work on the rest later.  Besides, I was totally out of tape and patience.

I am completely thrilled that we have a new grocery store within driving distance to us!  It opened Wednesday, so Marty and I decided to go by on Friday to see what all the fuss was about.

Yes, I am this excited over a Publix!  I know it probably seems weird to a lot of you, but the only places we have to grocery shop are Wal-Mart, Winn Dixie, and our local, family-owned store.  Don't get me wrong, I love our local store, but when I need to do my "big" shopping, I have to go to a chain store to afford it.  Not that Winn Dixie is cheap, but I can use a lot of coupons and they have a ton of BOGO sales.  I've wanted to try to get into couponing, but don't have much luck at Wal-Mart.  I'm hoping since Publix is within a 20 minute drive, I can learn to coupon a little more and save more money!  We are supposed to be getting our own (10 minute drive) Publix next year.  I can't wait!

Just look at all of that beautiful produce!

He got to come home on Wednesday...his Mama's birthday!  Happy Birthday to Stephanie!

So far, he is doing great and growing like a weed!  Stephanie and Lance are so blessed that he is doing so well! Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes!

Alabama played a fantastic game against Kent State, on Saturday.

I've gotten a few comments about the Discus commenting system.  I know it is a big pain in the ol' booty and I don't have a clue how to fix it.  I am going to try a few things after I finish my work week and see if I can get it to work better for everyone.  I hate it, but I hate the Blogger option even more.  Thanks to all of you who have fought with it, and still choose to stay with me.  My bloggy buddies are the BEST!

This was one day in my life that I don't think I will ever forget.

First, we got a little bit of this....

SNOW!

It wasn't enough to throw snowballs and make snowmen, but it was just enough to prevent a "Come-Apart" by Jameson.

Most of you "Northerners" are laughing hysterically that we are so excited over a little "dusting" of the white stuff, but when you NEVER, EVER, EVER see snow, the tiniest bit of it sends us into hysteria!

(As evidenced by our schools and businesses being closed for not one, but TWO days!)

Then, late last night, the Alabama Crimson Tide won their 13th National Championship!

The last time they pulled this off was in 1992, the year the triplets were born....

And I don't remember one, single thing about that Championship winning year.

Not one, single thing.

To most of you non-football fans, or Alabama football "haters" (which really came out of the woodwork last night....**sheesh**) this isn't a really big deal either....

But for this SEC-Alabama Crimson Tide-Nick Saban-Roll Tide-LOVING gal,

It was a HUGE deal!

The absolute sports highlight of my year!

I only wish my Daddy and my Nanny (my mother's mother) were alive to see it.

They LIVED for Alabama football season, so I guess I get it honestly!

But, between the "blizzard" and the the game, something else happened that has changed things in our lives completely...

This is our OLD house.

The house Marty and I moved into when we first got married.

The house where my all my babies spent their first nights at home.

The house where we lost two of those precious babies.

The house where we mourned our children and tried to learn how to live a new, heartbroken life.

The house where I learned about raising a daughter with special needs.

The house where I learned about raising a healthy, rambunctious son.

The house where we dreamed and made plans for our future.

This is our house, our first house....

And now it is gone.

The walls are still there, but the fire chief said he thinks it is a "total loss".

Nothing left but the memories....

Both good and bad.

Just like January 7th, 2010

Now I have to buy ANOTHER new shirt...

And I don't mind one little bit!
