Alabama Slacker Mama's 2009 Year in Review

2009 has been a very busy year for this itty-bitty blog, better known as Alabama Slacker Mama.

It's gone from having very occasional comments and TWO followers on January 1st, 2009, to having multiple comments and 131 followers as of December 31, 2009!

WOW! I am humbled and very appreciative of EVERY SINGLE ONE OF Y'ALL!

I can't believe anybody would want to read about my dull, boring life.

BUT, I am so glad y'all do!

Over this past year, I have met SO MANY wonderful, beautiful people!

I have laughed with you, cried with you, prayed with you and for you, and have even disagreed with a blogger or two.

So many of you wonderful, beautiful people out there in BlogLand have become FAMILY to me!

Who knew?

So, as 2009 comes to a close, I thought I would do a sort-of "Slacker Mama Year in Review".

I thought I would go through and find out which posts were the Top 10 most popular.

I used the number of comments I received, eliminating the contest posts, and deducting the comments I made myself on the posts.

So, here are Alabama Slacker Mama's Top 10 (actually 14) posts for 2009:

(Click on the title of the post to take you to the post, if you want to read it.)

  5. What a great idea Robin! Chelsea's story was my favorite too, she truly is a blessing and such a dear soul. Every time I see that open, beautiful smile it does my heart good. Can you believe how fast a year can go by? I let my 1 yr blog anniversary slip by - didn't realize it until it was a month past. I'm going to try and do something to celebrate after all the holiday craziness is past. Hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year! Hugs, Kathy

  10. Hi Robin,

I found your blog through another blog and I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw your kitchen! It was then that I knew that I knew you...well, sort of. :0) I have talked with you now and then on the HGTV message boards and I've ALWAYS loved your kitchen! I even have it saved in my inspiration files and would LOVE to use that beautiful green color one day.

Anyway, I wanted to say hello and wish you and your family a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Also, I just became your newest 'Follower' and I will definitely be back to look at all the beautiful photos you have of your gorgeous home! I hope you will visit me sometime, too. My blog is not a design blog but I'd still like to hear from you. :0)

    Have a great day.

    Blessings,

  11. BTW, we live in Newnan, GA. I see that you work near Atlanta and live in Alabama. Does that mean you live in the more eastern part of Alabama? My husband works for a commercial/industrial construction company based in Montgomery but his job sites are in Opelika, Valley, Phenix City, Auburn and LaGrange. So, he travels I85 every day. That's what made me think you might live in that area.

    Anyway, War Eagle!

  12. Teresa, HEY! I do know you too! Thank you for your compliments on my kitchen....it's still very much a work in progress! The kitchen color is "Grasscloth" by Behr from Home Depot. I LOVE this color and I love the Behr paint....it goes on so smooth! However, it totally doesn't match the anything else in the entire house...lol! I think I will paint the laundry room the same color just so the kitchen will match something. LOL

I work in Lithia Springs, right off I-20 (the exit before Six Flags) and I live right off I-20 in Alabama. Montgomery is about 2 hours south of me. It is a distance to travel, but I love the people I work with, so I guess it's worth it...lol!

Thanks for visiting me!!! I hope to get to know you better in 2010!

  15. I absolutely love your kitchen. The green color is gorgeous. Also, where in the world did you get your red valance??? Beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Shawna, thank you! The green in the kitchen is "grasscloth" by Behr at Home Depot. Love the paint and the color!

I had the valances made by a wonderful seamstress in West Georgia. If you google "Victory Swag" or "Liberty Swag" you can find the pattern. The pattern I used is McCall's M4854.

I fell in love with the fabric when we were building the house. I have the red in the kitchen, dark brown in the dining room, and I have a sage green of the same pattern that I am planning on using in the living room somewhere.
